Call for submissions
February 22nd
Call for Papers
User Experience Research (UXR) Points of View (POVs) distil complex data into actionable insights for product strategy and design, providing a focused perspective on user needs, pain points, and motivations, enabling teams to make informed decisions. This workshop aims to integrate Generative AI into every level of the UXR POV pyramid Framework (https://www.uxrpovplaybook.com/) to equip UX Practitioners with the essential tools needed to develop and articulate a persuasive PoV.
The workshop will guide participants in utilizing UXR POV GenAI tools to establish a plan/roadmap for defining a POV; leverage plays and best practice cards that support the journey through the UXR framework; and develop a clear, structured POV narrative.
Authors are invited to submit a paper to the CHI Workshop on “Developing an AI-Powered UX Research Point of View (POV)” to further develop the initial UXR PoV playbook using GenAI. We are interested in UX case studies, plays, and best practices that can be embedded into the playbook. Selected papers will be used as exemplar case studies during the workshop.
Selected papers will be used as exemplar case studies during the workshop.
Primary submission: consists of an extended abstract in the ACM Master Article Submission Templates (single column; 4-8 pages, excluding references).
Secondary submission: submit a one-page statement of interest for consideration, including your interest/related experience, relevant case-studies, methods/best practices, and anticipated contribution.
Submissions by email (.docx or .pdf format) to hdogan@bournemouth.ac.uk & stephengiff@gmail.com
Submissions will be accepted up until February 22nd, 2026
The workshop proceedings will be published via ArXiv. At least one author of each accepted submission must attend the workshop. We expect 30-40 participants to attend this workshop.
Note that submissions do not need to be in the form of a complete POV — the goal of the workshop is to extract the use case and best practices for practitioners to leverage in the future.

Workshop Overview
W22: Developing an AI-Powered UX Research Point of View (POV)
This in-person workshop is designed to equip UX Practitioners with the essential tools and techniques to develop and articulate clear, compelling Points of View (POVs) by integrating Generative AI (GenAI) into every level of the UXR POV Framework. The core focus is on human-AI collaboration, using GenAI to augment, not replace, the human researcher.Participants will learn how to:
Leverage GenAI and the UXR POV Framework: Learn to use purpose-built GenAI tools and AI agents to streamline and enhance various stages of POV creation, including automated theme extraction, drafting/summarization of reports, and hypothesis generation.
Establish a Foundational Plan/Roadmap: Utilize GenAI tools to define project goals, user needs, data sources, and stakeholder information, facilitating stakeholder buy-in and alignment at the foundational level of the framework.
Apply GenAI-Enhanced Best Practices: Integrate GenAI into the UXR POV Playbook's pyramid structure, leveraging a library of "Play Cards" and best practices to guide the journey from foundational work to final articulation.
Craft Compelling POV Narratives: Develop clear, structured POV narratives and supporting materials tailored for different stakeholders (executives, designers, engineers) and various mediums (slides, documents, podcasts, etc.).
Attendees will be introduced to the UXR POV Playbook, open-source and proprietary GenAI tools, templates, prompts, and an exemplary real-world case study to practice applying these methods to their own projects.
Post Workshop Activities
Publish use cases, plays, and play cards to UXR POV Playbook Website - https://www.uxrpovplaybook.com.
Publish Workshop Proceedings via ArXiv.
Publish an article sharing plays and extending requests for additional plays in ACM Interactions Magazine, or similar.
Write an article for The Conversation, a media outlet publishing articles written by academics and researchers. This will summarize the outcomes of the workshop.
